The associative property is a concept in which the grouping order of the operation does not matter.

Associative property of addition:

  • (α + β) + γ = α + (β + γ)

Associative property of multiplication:

  • (α · β) · γ = α · (β · γ)

Many people use the associative property subconsciously when doing simple math.
